Bonjour Mon Ami,
You see, my wife had the chance to learn French with a new french language training program called Rocket French. I watched over her should while she was training and wanted to write about the program.
The focus of Rocket French course lies like the other programs in to teaching students conversational French. Like this Rocket French review, I’m also planning on using and reviewing other French language products like Rosetta Stone French over the next several months so that I can share my opinions of these products with new French language students.

What’s Included With Rocket French Course
Seven Main Sections
There are seven basic segments to Rocket French. The best part of these segments is they lead naturally from one to another with five to ten french lessons in each section. You won’t just have to read and try and learn, each of these tutorials have real conversations in the french language in the form of sounds files can listen to, and explanations of the language structure then a short test on what you just learned before going to the next lesson as well as fun facts about the culture.
Five Games To Make Learning French Fun
Rocket French makes learning the French language fun with five games as well as the tutorial segments: One – Megaverbs, Two – MegaCards Beginner, Three – MegaCards Advanced, Four – MegaVocab, Five: MegaAudio. These entertaining games make learning the french language child’s play as they interact with you while you learn new words, learn to grammar and structure and pronunciation.
Rocket French User Board
You can interact with other Rocket French users on a dedicated forum where members talk about learning the French Language, using it while abroad, and questions on word usage in French. The dedicated Rocket French members board appears to have a few members who are fluent in French and the rest seemed to be beginners in learning French. A Look At The Rocket French Software
In this Rocket French review I wanted to talk about the seven main segments in Rocket French, as I noted before. Now in these segments are somewhere between five and ten tutorials
Rocket French Audio Lessons
involving listening to audio files and also grammar and syntax tutorials. This is a bare bones outline of the tutorials.
One. In this particular segment you learn the basics such as the social amenities, how to order at a restaurant, make hotel reservations, and many more things the traveler should know. The writing in French grammar tutorials are the highlight of this segment. How to use nouns verbs and make a grammatically correct sentence in French are covered. This particular portion was extremely useful in learning to write in French.
Two. In this segment it is all about getting from here to there. Whether you are have just arrived on the plane and need to find your luggage or need to give a taxicab driver directions to your destination it is covered in this segment. You will learn how to use pronouns such as them and they and me and to inquire as to directions or any other question you may have all in this grammar tutorial. The topics covered in this written French grammar tutorial are useful and simple.
Three. This particular segment is and advanced tutorial on getting from here to there using what you learned already in the other tutorials. When in a strange town with a different language you will need more language skills to get where you are going and that is what this segment covers. You learned about nouns and pronouns already and now you are ready to build up to adjectives in grammatically correct manner. There are plenty of new words to build your French language skills in this segment and ways to describe things in a grammatically correct fashion. How to properly conjugate a verb and use it in a grammatically correct sentence are re-examined in this segment.
Four. How to order comestibles in a hotel, what the names of drinks and food are, and other dining necessities are what this segment is all about. Shopping for groceries, reading labels on food, and dining out are the contents of this segment. These syntax and language structure lessons build on what you have learned previously in a natural manner. In this particular segment you learn about pronominal verbs, past present and future tenses, and more descriptors for nouns. In this segment more words are added than ever before. At this point you will be taught about drink and foods, how to noun modifiers and how to compare things. You have the option of earning a certificate after a quiz at the end of this particular segment. To earn this certificate your quiz results must be at least eighty percent.
Five. In this particular segment of Rocket French download you learn how to purchase, how to bargain and how to shop by listening to the spoken French. In this particular segment grammar and social tutorials teach you French colloquialisms, of course how to speak of currency and about employment. This segment expands your word-stock of French into the realm of personal relations, styles of dress and even more advanced adjectives.
Six. This particular segment has spoken audio tutorials on how to speak of relatives, relationships, and birthdays, and holidays and much more. It also touches on the topics of interpersonal relationships with the opposite sex, and flirtation. By this time you are beginning to sound more at ease with the French language and this syntax tutorial to properly use and for and other sentence connectors. This segment will expand your vocabulary more than any before and increase your ease with the French language.
Seven. In the audio portion of this segment, sports, games, and past-times are encompassed and how to communicate effectively in French about recreational past-times and sports and more. The French language grammar tutorial will in this segment for the most part is about interaction in a conversational situation which can be important to persons new to a language. You may at times need to ask someone to say something again, or speak more slowly or say it again, and this segment teaches you to do just that.
The final segment focuses on a comprehensive overview of all that you have learned in the other segments. Everything the previous conversational audio tutorials contained are in this single segment.
When you finish this final segment you are given the option to earn a second certificate of achievement from Rocket French.
You will know by the exam results at the end of each segment how fluent you are becoming in the French language. You can go back and review and any tutorial once you are finished and take sample quizzes if you like.
Games Included In Rocket French
Rocket French MegaVocab
The games that are part of Rocket French have been a great source of entertainment and learning for me. This is an outline of what the games that are part of Rocket French are about.
MegaVocab is a great little game that helps you expand your vocabulary from basic into fluency in the French language with words divided into sections. With Megavocab you see a picture and connect it to the word in the French language.
MegaAudio is one of the best Rocket French games included in my opinion. MegaAudio helps you connect the spoken French word to a picture by having you pick the picture and English word out from a list that matches what the speaker just said.
MegaVerbs helps you learn to write in the French language. Megaverbs is not for beginners so I did not play it as much because it requires medium fluency to very fluent French language skills. Megaverbs looks fun, and I believe after a short time I will playing it, but I require a more extensive vocabulary and grasp of the French language before trying.
Rocket French Review Summary
Over the last 7 days I have progressed through a few Rocket French tutorials. Taking all factors into account Rocket French is superior to almost all of the french language programs around. Rocket French is very affordable, costing only $99.95.
- The following are what I feel are Rocket French strong points:
- When listening to to audio tutorials you listen to persons who speak English and French as a first language.
- In the audio segments an explanation in English follows a French sentence.
- You learn grammar not only in speaking but write in French confidently.
- The five included French language learning games encourage learning because they are enjoyable.
Now, there are some things I feel are negative about Rocket French:
- I don’t feel the audio tutorials move quickly enough.
- You can’t speak the word and have it corrected as with some other French language programs.
- The Rocket French message board is inactive. 3 days after asking a question on the message board I still have not seen any answer. The message board was supposed to be helpful and was used in their sales text.
After balancing the negative with the positive in this Rocket French Review, I believe that Rocket French is well worth the investment.
